Winterwonderland for Maja Designs

Welcome!
Today an 'Out off the page' project in vintage style, it's a triptych with wintry feeling.
As I saw the wonderful new collection papers 'Joyous winterdays' I was inspired to create a new home decor project for christmas as little gift for a good friend.

other uses materials
modelling clay white, Snow tex (DecoArt), Silikon mould 'Icecycle', Distress ink 'Walnut stain', clear stamp 'Crackle', chipboards (Scrap FX), cutting dies, Resin treasure window

How I made this

  • I choose background paper 'Frost' and cut out all three MDF pieces
  • then I glued the paper with Decoupage Glue (DecoArt) on it
  • I connected the three pieces and used the paper distresser tool for the edges, it gives an beautiful altered effect
  • then i chose two motives from this new amazing Christmas/ Wintercollection and cut out - the sweet snowmen and little boy

  • icecycles were made with white modeling clay and a mould
  • to complete the background, I added Distress Ink 'Walnut stain' with a little bit water for some running effects, it will give you a worned altered look
  • I used the 'Blizzard' paper, textured paper (leftovers from a wallpaper) and a craft paper for cutting dies - trees, lantern, winter leaves and snowflakes
  • glued all also embellishments with a transparent adhesive medium
  • create the snow effect with Snow tex (DecoArt)

some close up's

This project was so much fun to create and I love the scene that you can build up, using all the beautiful background papers from Maja Design.
And if you wonder why the little boy is suddenly blue now, even though he is on the original green, it was very cold in the snow ;-) ... ?
yes, you can change the color of these papers later, for example with alcohol markers :-)

Today a new inspiration layout for Scrap FX.
Children, stars, jeans time and the first love - always a wonderful theme .

 used products
and a background paper from the Maja Design Collection 'Denim and Friends' - Sunbleached

some close up's

I use the Chevron stencil as background with with gesso. Have you seen the Transparencies from Scrap FX always very suitable for every layout theme.

You know I also love this wonderful black silhouettes, very filigree and always a good contrast
in your background.
Usually I cut these silhouettes into several pieces.

I used an embossing powder 'Hammered Metal' for the word Memories, really a cool shiny effect.
I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look at some of products from Scrap FX.

Christmas cards

Hello my friends!

I'm always impressed when I see all the wonderful handmade christmas cards in craftyland, gorgeous!!
In the meantime, I know some people who are looking forward to a self-made card, so I dare to approach the card theme.  Anyone who knows me knows that I always do things a little bit differently. These were the thoughts behind this christmas cards.
.

I used an embossing folder from Sizzix Tim Holtz 'Holiday print', Distress 'Walnut ink' and some cutting dies and christmas embellishments. At first, it's nothing unusual
but I was in love with this Halloween witch and this time is over,
but with witchcraft it's now a fairy godmother :-)

The broom became a magic wand and with texture paper und stickles it's now a
winter fairy :-)

Let your imagination run free !
Happy crafting!

Tutorial Altered Pencil Box

Welcome!

Today a new tutorial,  how I made a pencil box in industrial grunge style. It's a new upcycling project, because I use two gift boxes without the covers. I was on search for a new masculine gift idea, it should be practical and not so colorful.

before and now

For this project you will need:
gift boxes without cover

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Woven Burlap
7 gypsies Architextures FindingsTin Celing Tiles
7Gypsies Ordre Du Jour Collection Seize the Day
Canvas Corp Artsy Sampler on Kraft
DecoArt media Gesso white
 DecoArt Crackle Medium Weathered Wood
DecoArt Chalky Finish Paint Timeless
Sizzix Dies 'Gear'
Tim Holtz 'Paper dolls'
Inka Gold 'Hämatit'
 black textured paper
corrugated cardboard
chipboard 'Friend' + Embossing powder
metal embellishments
old bookpages + grey and black acrylic paints for inner part
glue
brush

add a thin layer of white gesso, let it dry

now a thick layer of weathered wood crackle medium

tear cardboard in different sizes and glue it on the sides

painted all with Chalky finish 'Timeless'

use gear dies with self adhesive texture paper

now start with decorating

use Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and spray it about the whole project,
now the fine cracks of the crackle medium become visible

use a cut out from
7Gypsies Ordre Du Jour Collection Seize the Day, glue it on a piece of thick cardstock,
add with a 3D pad on front side
so it looks like a real drawer
I also use a photo from a little boy who is sitting on the box, a metall embellishment and a chipboard
with embossing powder
finally rubbed metall gloss paint 'Hämatit' over the rough surface using my fingers

 and the second box
the same procedure instead of corrugated cardstock
some pieces of old book pages
and variant decoration

Happy crafting!

Heartbreaker

Hello my friends!

today a season inspired layout, Fall time is the best time to go on a discovery tour through the forest and to rustle in the fragrant autumn leaves.
I used a background paper from Maja Design 'Walking in the forest'.

I want to share this inspiration layout into the following challenges

Creative Embellishments
I was inspired from all the forest elements in autumn colors - leaves, animals
+ flourish hmm = swing ?! in the wordlet 'Heartbreaker'

 CSI No 241
Evidence: stripes, leaves, animals, wood
Testimony: Inspire words - Outside, wish, calm

More than Words - Outdoors & Woodgrain

I love to create with natural textures e.g. 'WOODGRAIN'
perfect for forest images when leaves are falling
(I hope you can see my woodgrain stripes ? as picture frame and vertical in background,
I used this background paper from Maja Design 'Denim and Friends')

Nature feelings-,
what can be better than a wonderful walk through a colourful forest,
there is a lot of interesting things to discover

Enjoy your day!
