The Snow Queen

Welcome!

Do you know the old fairytale 'The Snow Queen' from Hans Christian Anderssen?,
it was one of my favourite stories in my childhood.
In the Disney adaption 'Frozen' are Elsa and Anna the main figures.
Our children loves this film and all the figures also snowmen 'Olaf',
they are totally in vogue here.
'Let it go' is the song which are sung or twittered on early morning,
at noon and in the evening, especially when it has snowed.

So I came up with the idea of tinkering a snow queen.
I also wanted to try the tattered angels mists together with fabric and stiffener.

DT Scrap Africa - Enjoy winter time

Welcome!

It's still winter time here,
for me spring could start it, ups ;-) a little bit early.
I miss  the sunshine, warm temperatures, chirping birds, floridity
and all the other beautiful things in spring.
But winter has also beautiful sides.

Enjoy the little things!

and this is our Mood board for February
I was inspired from the stripes and color blue,
but I think there are so many other opportunities
to use this moodboard as inspiration for your own creative project.

I created an industrial look together with some acrylic paints
from Decoart, crackle effects and stamps

look at the wonderful details on this black cardstock feather,
AMAZING!!!
I love all the little things on it, so filigree!

I used it for the back front, so that you can also admire it from both sides.

based on a white gesso underground,
a little bit black embossing powder on some areas and a rust acrylic paint

The gears are best suited to be stamped on a white background. I used a clear little script stamp.

DT Scrap of Darkness ' Botanique' II

Welcome!

Today another idea what you can make with our beautiful January kit 'Botanique'.
My idea was to use an old wooden bird house
as home decor piece for my new springtime decoration.

I painted everything with a coat of DecoArt White Gesso and let it dry.
Then I started my alteration by using some Decoupage glue
to apply a layer of old music paper.
Only some areas I coated with Crackle white paste.
When everything was dry I applied a layer ofDecoArt Media Antiquing cream 'Raw umber'
into the cracks and about the whole house and an aged look was ready.

I found on the 'Mother Earth' paper from G 45 Nature Sketchbook Collection
a lot of motifs, which are very suitable for this bird house in nature look.
So I cut out a yellow flower, fern leaves, butterflies and the funny grasshopper
and glue it also to edge and as 3D (butterflies).

three small chipboards as roofing tiles

a burlap ribbon as bow and stripe together with two chitchat stickers
- blooming freedom -
 and my house was finished
